In this article, we aim to give you some basic information about the concepts of Project and Project Management .
The set of tasks or work to be carried out within a limited period of time to reach a goal is called a 'Project' . The critical point in this definition is the concept of 'a limited period of time' .
At this point, it is worth outlining what projects and operations have in common and how they differ.
What Projects and Operations Have in Common:
• They are activities carried out by resources (people and machines),
• Resources are limited,
• They go through Planning, Execution and Control phases,
Operations : Ongoing activities performed routinely (at regular intervals).
If everything is certain, the work is already an OPERATION. We run a PROJECT because there is uncertainty.
How Do Projects Arise?
Projects usually arise as a result of one or more of the following strategic considerations.
- Market expectations
- Business process requirements
- Customer requests
- Technological developments
- Legal requirements
- Social needs
